Doral visitor guide
Last reviewed: November 4, 2026. Sources for this page are listed in its fact sheet.
Short answer first. Doral is Miami's west side city, built around the airport and a golf resort that has drawn visitors since the 1960s. You're not coming here for the beach. You're coming for golf, business, a family base with room to park, or a flight schedule that punishes a long airport drive. Doral sits about 15 to 20 minutes from Miami International Airport in normal traffic, with two visitor centers of its own: CityPlace Doral and Downtown Doral. Stay here if that trade sounds right. Pick the beach instead if sand is the point, and use our beachfront hotels guide to do it.

Why visitors end up in Doral
Three trips land here. The golf trip aims at Trump National Doral and treats the rest of the city as dinner support. The work trip uses the office parks along NW 36th Street. The family trip wants space, parking, and a calm base for day runs. All three share one fact: the airport run is short. That's the whole pitch.
One December date to know: the G20 Leaders Summit meets at Trump National Doral on December 14 and 15, 2026; our G20 summit travel guide covers what that does to hotels and roads.
CityPlace Doral: dinner, a film, bowling
CityPlace Doral, at 8300 NW 36th St, Doral, FL 33166, is the city's open air dining and entertainment center. Its own site counts 250,000 square feet of retail space and more than 40 dining, shopping and entertainment destinations. The anchors tell you how an evening runs: CMX CineBistro pairs a film with dinner service in your seat, Kings Dining and Entertainment runs bowling lanes with a full bar and kitchen, and The Fresh Market covers groceries for longer stays.
Plan it as a one stop night. Eat first, then choose the film or the lanes, and you're parked once for the whole evening. Check the current tenant list on cityplacedoral.com before you go, because lineups change through the year.
Downtown Doral and The Doral Yard
Downtown Doral is the newer town center a few minutes north, built around NW 53rd Street with shops, restaurants, offices and homes in one planned district. Its listed address is 8551 NW 53rd St, and Downtown Doral Park, at 8395 NW 53rd St, gives it a green middle. It's a local's district first. That's the appeal.
The stop we'd build an evening around is The Doral Yard, at 8455 NW 53rd St, Suite 106, on the corner of Main Street and Paseo. The Yard runs as a food hall with an outdoor backyard, a bar, and live music through the week. Its own site names the vendor mix: Mexican street food from Los Buenos, Venezuelan rotisserie chicken from un pollo, dim sum from YIP, plus Paletas Morelia pops and Santo Dulce churros. Vendor lineups turn over, so confirm the current list on thedoralyard.com. Groups do well here. Everyone orders something different, and nobody negotiates a menu.
Trump National Doral and the golf
Trump National Doral Miami, at 4400 NW 87th Ave, Miami, FL 33178, is the reason Doral sits on golf maps at all. The resort has four championship courses: the Blue Monster, Golden Palm, Red Tiger and Silver Fox, per the resort's own FAQ page. The Blue Monster is the famous one, a long par 72 test with water in play across the round, and it's the course most visiting golfers book first. Tee times sell through the resort, and resort guests get priority access to book golf, per the same FAQ.
Two honest notes. First, this is a resort day, not a quick nine: budget the full morning or afternoon, and book the tee time before anything else, since winter slots go early. Second, you don't need to sleep at the resort to eat well afterward. CityPlace and Downtown Doral sit a short drive away.
The west side day: Shark Valley
Doral's best day trip runs west, not east. Shark Valley, the Everglades National Park entrance closest to Doral, sits at 36000 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33194, on US 41, the Tamiami Trail. The National Park Service puts the visitor center 25 miles west of the Florida Turnpike on that road, and Doral already sits west of the airport, so you're partway there. The visit itself is a 15 mile loop road through freshwater marsh. You walk it, bike it, or ride the narrated tram, and halfway round stands a 70 foot observation tower. No private cars run the loop.
Go early in winter. Wildlife is active in the cool hours and the tram seats fill by midday. Our Everglades day trip guide compares Shark Valley with the airboat strip along the same road, so you can pick one or stack both into a single west side day.
Where to stay in Doral
Hotel supply clusters in two bands. The first runs along NW 36th Street by CityPlace and the airport's west edge, handy for work trips and early flights. The second follows the Palmetto Expressway corridor, handy for drivers crossing the county. The resort itself is the third option, priced for golfers. Rates here usually run under Miami Beach for the same dates, and parking is rarely the fight it is at the beach.

Getting around from Doral
Rent the car. Doral is a driving city, and its sights, hotels and restaurants spread across wide arterials. The Dolphin Expressway, SR 836, is your east west spine: the airport in about 15 to 20 minutes in normal traffic, downtown in roughly half an hour when the expressway moves. Rush hours change that math fast, so build a buffer into any timed plan.
