Calle Ocho 2027: VIP passes, road closures and where to stay

Last reviewed: November 6, 2026. Sources for this page are listed in its fact sheet.

Short answer first. The Calle Ocho Music Festival takes over SW 8th Street in Little Havana on Sunday, March 14, 2027, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., across 15 blocks from SW 12th Avenue to SW 27th Avenue. Entry is free. It closes Carnaval Miami and it's presented by the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana. The paid product, the VIP Passport, lists at $140 for 2027, but its Eventbrite listing showed sales ended when it was checked in late October 2026, months before the festival. Read that the plain way: plan your day around the free festival, check the listing again before you count on a VIP ticket, and don't build a March trip on a pass you may not be able to buy. Everything below that, the footprint, the week around it and the stay plan, is built on the free day, which is how the city itself does Calle Ocho.

The free day: how the footprint works

Fifteen blocks of SW 8th Street close to traffic and fill with stages, food stalls and crowds. The festival runs the length of the Little Havana commercial strip, past Domino Park, the Tower Theater and the ventanitas that line the street the rest of the year. There's no gate and no ticket check. You walk in from either end or from a side street, and the plan that works is the simple one: arrive before the midday peak, work the street in one direction, and eat as you go rather than queueing at the first stall you see. Our Calle Ocho festival guide covers the stages and the street itself, and the Little Havana neighborhood guide covers the blocks you'll be standing in.

Road closures are the honest gap in every early Calle Ocho guide, including this one. Neither the City of Miami nor the organizer had published the 2027 closure and parking plan when this page was checked on November 6, 2026. The footprint above tells you which blocks will close; the exact side street pattern and the parking plan land closer to March, and this page gets a refresh when they publish. Anyone printing a 2027 closure map in November is guessing. Don't plan a drive in around a guess.

The VIP Passport, stated plainly

The product on Eventbrite, listed by the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana, is the Calle Ocho VIP Passport Tour at $140. It runs 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on festival day, inside the festival's 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. hours, and it includes Latin food and drink samples, front row access at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood and Telemundo 51 stage, private transport through the festival, a VIP lounge, a lanyard and merchandise, and reserved parking. Wristbands for the drink samples are 21 and over. Registration runs from noon to 4 p.m. at the Miami Dade College surface lot at 2620 SW 5th Street. Refunds run up to 7 days before the event. Proceeds go in part to the Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation's youth programs.

Now the status, because it changes the advice. The listing, crawled on October 30, 2026, showed the $140 ticket as sales ended and sold out. A March festival pass closing sales the previous fall is unusual; the listing may reopen, or the 2027 allocation may genuinely be gone. Either way, the move is the same: check the Eventbrite listing under Calle Ocho Music Festival VIP Passport 2027 before you promise anyone a VIP day, and hold the free plan as your real plan. If the listing reopens, the tour format above is a fair buy for a first timer who wants the street explained and the samples gathered in one pass. If it doesn't, you lose nothing but the lounge.

The Carnaval week around it

Calle Ocho is the last act of a season, and the week before it holds two smaller events worth building around. Carnaval on the Mile runs Saturday and Sunday, March 6 and 7, 2027 on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables, with free admission: an art and music weekend on a calmer street, and the better pick for anyone who wants the season without the crush. The Domino Tournament falls on March 13, 2027, the day before Calle Ocho, per the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau's Carnaval Miami calendar listing; the organizer hadn't posted its own 2027 domino page when checked, so treat that date as bureau listed and confirm closer in. The organizer does list the season's golf day directly: the Golf Classic on March 8, 2027 at Miami Lakes Golf Club.

Where to stay

Little Havana itself has thin hotel stock, so most visitors base nearby and travel in. Downtown and Brickell put you one short ride west of the footprint and give you the full hotel market; Coral Gables pairs the festival with Carnaval on the Mile the weekend before if you're staying the week. Book the downtown base if Calle Ocho is the point of the trip. Book Coral Gables if the week is the point. Festival week in Little Havana also fills the food tours: the Little Havana food and walking tour on Viator runs the same streets with a guide on the days around the festival, when the neighborhood is at its fullest, and it's the best use of the Saturday before.

The facts that matter

Calle Ocho facts checked November 6, 2026: the Calle Ocho Music Festival is Sunday, March 14, 2027, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., free, on SW 8th Street from SW 12th Avenue to SW 27th Avenue in Little Havana, presented by the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana as the close of Carnaval Miami (carnavalmiami.com). Carnaval on the Mile is March 6 and 7, 2027 on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables, free. The Domino Tournament date of March 13, 2027 comes from the visitors bureau's Carnaval calendar; the organizer's own 2027 domino page was not posted at the check. The VIP Passport lists at $140 on the organizer's Eventbrite listing for a 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. tour format with check in at 2620 SW 5th Street; the listing showed sales ended at the October 30, 2026 crawl. No 2027 street closure or parking plan had been published by the city or the organizer at the check.

Frequently asked questions

Is Calle Ocho free?
Yes. The street festival itself costs nothing. The VIP Passport is the only paid product attached to it, and the rest of your spend is food, drink and transport.

Can I buy the VIP Passport now?
Check the listing first. It showed sales ended in late October 2026. If it's still closed when you look, plan the free day, which is the festival most of Miami attends anyway.

Where do I park?
The 2027 parking and closure plan isn't published yet. It lands closer to March through the city and the organizer, and this page updates when it does. Arriving by rideshare or transit avoids the question entirely.

What pairs with the festival day?
The Little Havana food tour pages and the Miami in March guide build the rest of the weekend.
