Wellness and Spas in Miami: Visitor Guide

Last reviewed: October 30, 2026. Sources for this page are listed in its fact sheet.

Short answer first. Miami does wellness at hotel scale. The destination spas are the story: Tierra Santa Healing House at Faena, Lapis at the Fontainebleau, the hydrotherapy playground of The Standard Spa, and the Bamford Wellness Spa at 1 Hotel South Beach, most of them selling day access or treatment led visits to non guests in some form. Around them sits the active layer: beach yoga at sunrise, bayfront runs, and paddle mornings on Biscayne Bay. Build one recovery day into any Miami trip longer than a weekend; the city is better enjoyed rested.

The destination spas

Tierra Santa Healing House, Faena's 22,000 square foot temple to South American healing traditions, is the spectacle pick: a wet spa of hammam, sauna and ice, treatment rooms and a design level that matches the hotel around it. Lapis, the Fontainebleau's two level spa, is the classic resort version, mineral pools and a full treatment menu steps from LIV's home resort. The Standard Spa, on Belle Isle, is the locals' favorite: a coed hydrotherapy circuit of hammam, steam, sauna and soaking pools in a garden setting, with day passes that make it the most accessible great spa day in the city. Bamford at 1 Hotel brings the organic, calm register to South Beach's north end. Each is covered in its hotel's guide in our hotels section, the Faena and Standard pages among them.

Day passes and how spa access works

Hotel spas sell access three ways: treatments that include facility time, explicit day passes, and hotel guest privileges. Availability for non guests tightens in the winter season and loosens midweek and in summer, and prices are per property and per date, which is why this page quotes none. The booking order that works: pick the spa for its circuit, not its Instagram, book the treatment for late morning, and give the wet areas the slow afternoon they are built for. Our beachfront hotels guide flags the resorts whose spa and beach combine into a single day.

The active layer: yoga, runs and the bay

Miami's free and cheap wellness is outdoors. Sunrise yoga runs on the sand at South Beach and in Bayfront Park on regular weekly schedules from local studios and community groups; the bayfront path from Bayfront Park through Brickell is the city's sunrise run, flat and view filled. Paddleboards and kayaks launch from the marinas and Hobie Beach on the Key Biscayne causeway for the morning glass on Biscayne Bay. Schedules for community classes shift by season; the studios' own listings are the check. The beaches section covers the swim and snorkel side of the same mornings.

Building the recovery day

The template that works: sleep without an alarm, a slow breakfast, the spa circuit from late morning, a light lunch, the beach or the pool through the golden hour, and an early, excellent dinner. Put it in the middle of the trip, not the end, and put nothing with a ticket time after it. Travelers coming off a cruise can bolt it onto the post cruise day our post cruise guide plans, and the kit for it, from compression socks to the right sunscreen, lives in the travel essentials hub.

The facts that matter

Anchors: Tierra Santa Healing House is Faena Hotel's spa (22,000 square feet per the hotel). Lapis is the Fontainebleau's spa. The Standard Spa, Miami Beach sits on Belle Isle and centers on a hydrotherapy circuit. Bamford Wellness Spa is at 1 Hotel South Beach. Day access terms, treatment menus and prices are per property and date and are deliberately not quoted; each spa's own booking page governs.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a hotel spa without staying at the hotel?
Often yes, through treatments or day passes, with availability tightest in winter season and loosest midweek. Book through the spa directly.

Which spa is best for a first spa day?
The Standard, for its hydrotherapy circuit and garden calm at the most accessible terms. Faena's Tierra Santa is the splurge.

Are there wellness options that cost nothing?
Sunrise on the bayfront path, beach swims, and community yoga schedules around the parks and sand. The city itself is the facility.

When should I book spa treatments for a holiday trip?
As soon as the hotel is booked. Holiday weeks sell out the destination spas' prime hours first.
