Miami Marathon weekend: where to stay

Last reviewed: November 4, 2026. Sources for this page are listed in its fact sheet.

Short answer first. The Life Time Miami Marathon and Half runs on Sunday, January 31, 2027. The start line sits by the Kaseya Center at 601 Biscayne Blvd, and the finish line is at Bayfront Park, 301 Biscayne Blvd. Sleep downtown or in Brickell and race morning is a walk. Sleep in Miami Beach and race morning is a 4 a.m. shuttle you need to plan around. Both plans work. They just ask different things of you at 4 in the morning, so pick yours now and book the room. Our Miami Marathon visitor guide covers entry, spectating and the Tropical 5K in full.

The race morning facts that drive the hotel choice

The organizer's weekend schedule, checked November 4, 2026, puts gear check opening at 4:30 a.m. at Bayfront Park and start line access at 5 a.m. for athletes only. Athletes with disabilities start at 5:55 a.m. The marathon and half start at 6 a.m. The finish festival runs at Bayfront Park from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The organizer marks its schedules as subject to change, so confirm those times in your athlete communications during race week.

Downtown and Brickell: the walk to the start plan

This is the default for a reason. The start and finish sit blocks apart on Biscayne Blvd, so a downtown room turns race morning into a short walk with thousands of other runners doing the same thing. No shuttle ticket. No closure gamble. After the finish you're back at your room for a shower while beach based runners are still queuing for the ride home.

The InterContinental Miami, at 100 Chopin Plaza, stands right beside Bayfront Park, so the finish festival is at its door. Our InterContinental Miami page covers its rooms and rates. The Kimpton EPIC, at 270 Biscayne Blvd Way where the Miami River meets the bay, sits a short walk south of the park. Its rooms and pools are on our Kimpton EPIC page. Brickell proper, across the river, adds more stock at a slightly longer walk, and it's the area we'd pick if downtown sells out first.

Miami Beach: the shuttle plan

The beach works if you use the organizer's own transport. Per the weekend schedule, race morning shuttles leave the Miami Beach Convention Center area at 4 a.m., with pickup at 1800 Meridian Ave. Shuttle tickets are picked up at the expo's transportation booth, at $25 round trip if space remains. Post race shuttles run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., loading at NE 8th St and Biscayne Blvd by the Kaseya Center. Buy the ticket at the expo, set two alarms, and the beach plan is sound. Skip the ticket and plan to drive across a causeway on race morning, and you're gambling on the one morning downtown streets shut around the course.

The honest trade: the beach gives you a better Saturday. Downtown gives you a better Sunday. First time marathoners should take the Sunday.

The airport as a budget alternative

Airport area hotels usually price under both downtown and the beach for this weekend. The catch is race morning. You're west of downtown, the organizer's shuttles don't serve the airport corridor, and the road closure list for 2027 hasn't been published yet, so nobody can promise you a clean drive in at 5 a.m. If you book the airport, arrange a car the day before and leave far earlier than feels sane. Our airport hotels guide sorts that corridor.

Expo day: packet pickup at Mana Wynwood

Your bib lives in Wynwood until you collect it. The Miami Famous Expo runs at Mana Wynwood, 318 NW 23rd St, Miami, FL 33127, on Friday, January 29, 2027 from noon to 7 p.m. and Saturday, January 30 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The expo is the only place to pick up your bib. There's no race day registration and no race day bib pickup. Bring a photo ID. If someone else collects for you, they need a copy of your photo ID. Free shuttle buses run between Miami Beach and the expo on both days.

Sort your gear that night. Lay out the bib, the clear gear check bag from the expo, and breakfast. Then stop planning. Sleep is the last training session.

Still need race gear? A no bounce race belt, a pair of anti blister running socks, and energy gels in the flavor you trained with on Amazon. Race week is not the week to test a new gel.

What isn't published yet: the race week refresh

Two things this page won't print yet, on purpose. The organizer and Miami-Dade Transit haven't published the 2027 road closure windows or any early Metrorail service plan for race morning as of November 4, 2026. Last year's times are last year's, and printing them as 2027 facts would be guessing with your race on the line. This page gets a refresh in race week, in January 2027, when the closure list and transit plan post. Until then, build your plan on the walk or the shuttle, the two options that don't depend on unpublished lists. Registration status is current, though: general registration for the marathon and half is listed as sold out, the entry waitlist is listed as closed with selections still rolling out, and the Tropical 5K, run on Saturday, January 30, is listed at $75. Confirm your own status on themiamimarathon.com.
