MIA parking compared: on-airport garages or off-airport lots
Last reviewed: November 7, 2026. Sources for this page are listed in its fact sheet.
Short answer first. Miami International has three terminal garages, and the cheapest on-airport product isn't in any of them. The Economy Park and Ride lot at 1350 NW 45th Avenue charges $2 per 20 minutes up to a $12 daily maximum, plus a 35 cent transaction fee, with a shuttle to the terminals running 24 hours a day. The three garages, Dolphin, Flamingo and the newer Ibis, sit against the terminal for the walk-in trips where the shuttle's minutes cost more than the garage's dollars. Valet, at the departures level of Dolphin and Flamingo, tops the price ladder at $39 a day. Pick by trip length: a weekend or longer belongs at Economy or off-airport; a same day pickup or a tight flight belongs in a garage. The rates below come from the airport's own parking page, checked November 7, 2026.

The three garages: Dolphin, Flamingo and Ibis
Most guides list two MIA garages. The airport lists three, and parking in the wrong one adds a long terminal walk to a travel day. Dolphin Garage serves concourses D and E, the American Airlines end of the airport, with British Airways, JetBlue and Qatar in the same span. Flamingo Garage serves concourses E through J. Ibis Garage serves concourses J and H and carries the airport's EV charging. Garage stays cap at 45 days. The airport publishes valet, economy, motorcycle and oversized rates in plain text on its parking page; its garage rate is posted at booking.mia-parking.com, where Dolphin and Flamingo can be prepaid up to a year ahead with QR entry and exit, changes or cancellation up to 24 hours before, and a $2.99 non-refundable reservation fee. Secondary sources consistently put the garage cap at $25 a day; treat the prepaid booking screen, which shows your exact stay price before you pay, as the ruling figure for your dates, and screenshot it.
Two garage details save real trips. Motorcycles park in dedicated areas on floor 1 of all three garages at $12 a day. Vehicles over 7 feet tall go to the high vehicle area in Ibis Garage, beside the Dolphin North side, or to Economy Park and Ride. A lifted truck in a standard garage lane is a bad start to a vacation.
Economy Park and Ride: the $12 answer
Economy is the product this comparison is built around. It holds 350 spaces at 1350 NW 45th Avenue, Miami, FL 33126, runs its shuttle to and from the terminals around the clock, and takes payment through PayByPhone only, with cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay listed. The math against a garage is plain: at $12 a day, a seven day trip costs $84 plus the fee, and every extra day costs $12 instead of a garage rate. What you give up is the walk. The shuttle's minutes are real at peak hours, so Economy suits the trip where you arrive with time in hand, which should be every trip. If your margin is thin enough that a shuttle decides your flight, no parking product fixes that. Leave earlier.
Valet and the cell phone lot: the two ends of a pickup
Valet parking sits at the departures level, level 2, of the Dolphin and Flamingo garages. The airport's rate card: $25 for the first 0 to 3 hours on the first day, $39 for 3 to 24 hours, and a $39 daily maximum after that, with a 20 day maximum stay. It's the right product for a traveler with mobility needs, a pile of luggage, or a departure that can't absorb a shuttle. At the other end of the price ladder, the cell phone waiting lot is free: 60 spaces for private, not for hire vehicles, just off LeJeune Road and NW 31st Street, reachable from LeJeune in either direction. If you're collecting someone, that's your lot. Circling the terminal loop while their plane taxis is how a free pickup turns into an hour of traffic.
Off-airport lots: the honest state of play
Off-airport lots around MIA compete on a lower daily rate plus a shuttle, and the comparison only works with each operator's own published rate and shuttle frequency in hand. The airport's parking page names only one off-airport option and publishes no rate for it, so this page names no off-airport operator and prints no off-airport price rather than copying a roundup's stale table. The check to run, on any lot you're considering: the daily rate with taxes and fees included, the shuttle's hours and how often it runs at your return time, and the lot's closing time against a delayed flight home. A cheap lot whose last shuttle leaves before your delayed arrival isn't cheap. When that check is done and a marketplace channel is wired on this site, this section takes the booking link. Until then, Economy at $12 a day on airport property is the value benchmark any lot has to beat.
The cruise crossover and the park and fly play
Two crossover notes close the comparison. If you're parking for a sailing rather than a flight, PortMiami's own garages now charge $28 a day standard and $35 at Terminals AA and B, and Port Everglades charges $25, all compared in our port comparison; airport parking plus a transfer rarely beats the port's own garage on a cruise week. And for an early flight, the park and fly pattern, one night at an airport hotel with parking folded in, runs through our hotels near Miami airport page. The MIA Mover, finally, links the terminal to the Miami Intermodal Center and its Rental Car Center, which is why rental returns sit outside this parking math entirely.

Frequently asked questions
Which garage for an American Airlines flight?
Dolphin. American works concourses D and E, and Dolphin is built for that end of the terminal.
Is Economy safe for a two week trip?
It's an airport run lot with a 24 hour shuttle, and at $12 a day a 14 day trip totals $168 plus the fee. Long trips are exactly where its math wins.
Can I pay cash at Economy?
No. The airport lists PayByPhone only for Economy, with cards and phone payment inside that system. Set the app up before you drive in.
